AAA111 (2001 F150) Need to remove fuel rail - Step by step is needed
Hey Guys!!! I can't stand trucks behavior replacing COP.
I have huge hands can't get COP off so I am taken the fuel rail off!! YES ITS THE ONE IN THE BACK #8!!!! HAAAA!!
So tell me I shut the fuel off then unplug battery then bolts on fuel rail then pull fuel rail off?
What is the proper way to shut fuel off?
Can someone post a step by step?

Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer toSection 414-01.
Relieve the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer toSection 310-00A.
Partially drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer toSection 303-03A or Section 303-03B.
Remove the power steering reservoir bracket.
Remove the bolts.
Position the power steering reservoir bracket out of the way.
Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator valve vacuum hose.
CAUTION: After disconnecting, plug the fuel lines to prevent leakage.
Disconnect the fuel lines. For additional information, refer toSection 310-00A.
Disconnect the eight ignition coil electrical connectors.
Disconnect the eight fuel injector electrical connectors.
4.6L engines
Remove the nut and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and bracket
5.4L engines
Remove the brake booster bracket and tube.
Remove the nut.
Release and move the two hose clamps.
Remove the brake booster tube.
All engines
Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
5.4L engines
Disconnect the water heater inlet tube hose.
Release and move the hose clamp.
Disconnect the water heater inlet tube hose and position aside.
4.6L engines
Disconnect the EGR connections:
EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube upper fitting
Differential pressure feedback EGR transducer electrical connector
EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube lower fitting
5.4L engines
Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve to exhaust manifold tube.
Disconnect the two differential pressure feedback EGR transducer hoses.
Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube upper fitting.
Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube lower fitting.
All engines
Remove the EGR tube.
Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose.
Disconnect the vapor management valve (VMV) hose.
Remove the bolts and lift the fuel injection supply manifold (9F792) and injectors upward, out of the intake manifold (9424).
Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel injection supply manifold.
Inspect the two O-ring seals from each fuel injector. Install new O-ring seals as needed.
Installation
All engines
NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil to aid installation.
Install two O-ring seals to each fuel injector.
Install the fuel injectors into the fuel injection supply manifold.
Install the four bolts.
Connect the VMV hose.
Connect the EGR valve hose.
Position EGR tube on the engine.
4.6L engines
Install the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube.
Connect the differential pressure feedback EGR transducer electrical connector.
5.4L engines
Install the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube and connect the differential pressure feedback EGR transducer hoses.
All engines
Install the PCV hose.
4.6L engines
Connect the brake booster vacuum hose and bracket and install the nut.
5.4L engines
Install the brake booster bracket and tube.
Install the brake booster tube.
Install the two hose clamps.
Install the nut.
Connect the water heater inlet tube hose.
Connect the water heater inlet tube hose.
Compress and install the hose clamp.
All engines
Connect the eight fuel injector electrical connectors.
Connect the eight ignition coil electrical connectors.
Connect the fuel lines. For additional information, refer toSection 310-00A.
Connect the fuel pressure regulator valve vacuum hose.
Install the accelerator control splash shield.
Install the power steering reservoir bracket.
Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer toSection 303-03A or Section 303-03B

wow, makes it sound simple... almost. It reads like stereo instructions...lol. Good stuff though.

to maek it easier the instructions say to disconnect some of the coolant lines, i'm assuming its just to keep it from making a mess when they are disconnected

OK... I am getting lost in the instructions.. Will this be ok todo
1. Pop the hood
2. Disconnect battery
3. Go inside the truck shut fuel off on the pass side
4. Undo each bolt, two on each side holding the fuel rail on
5. Pull up on the fuel rail
6. Plug fuel rail holes with cotten or cloth to prevent gas leaking out
---
Cop
1. unplug elec. connection on COP
2. undo bolt
3. pull out cop
clean and replace with new ones
Did I miss anything?

Cory-burt's instructions are for REPLACING the fuel rails, not simply removing them for the purpose of easier COP/plug handling nor are they for simply replacing the injectors. In addition to your 1-6 I would replace the o-rings and use di-electric grease to put the injectors back if you remove them.

Are there any tricks to putting the fuel rail back on? I needed to get to #7 to remove the COP and spark plug, so I pulled the rail off, but it doesn't seem to want to go back on. I didn't release the fuel pressure, I just pulled on them and pulled them off. I lost a little bit of fuel but not too much. I aligned them back up with the injectors (which I didn't remove) and tried to push down and pop them back on, but they don't seem to want to pop back on.

Take the pressure off..
