I like the idea of LED offroad lights because of their impressively low current draw, but the price is just so far out there... I have been wanting to do something to get more light on the ground in a snow storm/heavy downpour so I can actually see the lines. I have a leveled truck and the fogs don't do anything to help (washed out by the HID's) Anyone have any thoughts on something that would work?

They would probably have to be mounted by the plate or maybe even lower somehow? Something that puts a lot of light right on the ground 30-40ft infront of the truck?

i agree. with time, like any other newer tech, the price will drop.

I recently put LED lights in my headache rack for $75...prices on LED's are coming down. LED's don't have nearly the light output yet for the amount of money you'd pay for halogens. They are getting there though. A LED company told me, if you wan't to match the output of a bulb with LEDs, prepare to pay 3-4 times more.

there are single LED's that put out 3000 lumens each. thats as much as an HID headlight.

yes you will pay more, but A) they have a lifespan on 50-100,000 hours, significantly lower power usage, less heat, shock resistant, etc etc..

high power LED is still relatively new so the cost will come down eventually.
