Painted Edges on Taillights looks very clean and easy to do!
There might be a write up on this already but i couldn't find one so this is how i did it
So i was Wondering if i painted the inside of the edges of the taillights black if it would look clean. And it looks GREAT! Here's how i did it.
things needed:
1. Paint color of your choice. i chose black because my truck is black. You can probably get touch up paint from any dealership or checker also has touch up paint with little brushes..
2. Razor blade to remove any excess glue from factory.
3. Rags if your a messy painter and happen to go over the lip.
Thats it..
First you pull the light and on the back there is a small lip of plastic around the edges of the light.. this is where you paint.. not the front.. look inside the groove to see if there is any excess glue and remove with a razor blade.. there wasn't much at all when i looked.
Next Paint the inside of the groove with a small nail polish sized paint brush making sure you get it all the way in the groove.. look at the front of the light to make sure its all the way in there like so...
After you fill the groove make sure you go back and paint the little edge very carefully to cover the whole back of the lip.. i don't have a picture of that part but you get the idea
its ok if its a little messy as its on the back of the light and wont be seen. After you let it dry a little bit give it another coat so its totally solid..
Here are some close ups of what it looks like when its done.. very clean looking..
Now Before and finished

ALL DONE. tell what you think

Nice,
I had actually done my HDs a few weeks back and never thought about doing a write up.
Have had a few people ask/compliment the look. I tend to get this more from those with black trucks as well.
