Default XLTs - Jacking up the truck... where does everyone put the jack?

So got in an argument with someone the other day when jacking up my truck.

Where do you guys put the jacks on the front end of your XLTs when you jack them up?

Default All jacked up

I dont think the trim level makes a difference. The truck should be lifted by the frame, close to the wheel well (in the front). Behind the well - the jack itself has an illustration on it.

he may have been asking about jacking the whole front rather than one side at a time. I have not personally had to jack mine up, but is that possible with a floor jack on a 2008 f150?
Back in the day, jacking from the crossmember was ok because the crossmember was substantial enough, but if it ok with a f150?
Personally I would put the jack under the frame right behind the front wheel and right in front of the rear wheel. That is only if I was going to do one wheel at a time.
Yes you DO need jackstands when you are working on your truck, even if it is only one side at a time.
A jack is not meant to hold you vehicle, just to lift it.

yeah... basically when jacking the whole front up... where to put the jack... there is a black cross brace that runs under my truck on the front end, and then of course there is the front axle.

Which would be the best way?

Any vehicle I have ever jacked I have used the front cross member. I have never tried to jack one up on the front axle.

Front cross member to pick the whole front up. Set your jack stands up on the ends of that bar and lower the truck onto them. For just one wheel, frame rail behind the tire. With a 3 ton floor jack, this is no problem.

awesome... gonna have to print this out... i was jacking the truck up by placing the jack right in the middle of the front cross member and then placing the two stands at the bolt-ends of the cross member.

and he was saying I shouldnt do it that way... maybe he was assuming its better to jack one side up at a time??? idk

I always use the front cross member. Be sure to always use jack stands because there is a 5 cents oring that's holding your truck up when you only use a jack.

amen! never trust a jack alone.... jack stands are a must, put jack stands under front cross member or frame rails behind front wheels...
