the rear driver side spark plug blew out of my 2000 4.6 tonight. i would like to know the same thing except i am removing the head to repair the hole. because i dont like the idea of metal shavings going into the combustion chamber. which is the best way to repair this also which tools or tool kit. i am going to ask my uncle(journeyman ford mech.) tomorrow and will update also.

With all the problems Ford should have designed a repair procedure and then paid at least half for the repairs.
Many people have posted that NAPA has a spark plug repair kit for Fords that is easy, not too expensive, and that works. Call your local NAPA and talk to them about it. If they will answer the phone of course.
Here is just one example of the many types out there so you can get an idea of how it works. Most people agree the Heli coil does not work well for spark plugs.
