Removing exhaust manifold flange studs
Trying to remove rusted and broken exhaust manifold flange studs on my 4.6 liter V-8 (left side). Anybody have some helpful advice ? I'm trying to avoid removing the exhaust manifold for fear of breaking off those studs too !

I just did this actually, I was replacing the manifold also, Mine were rusted down to maybe as big as a pencel lead, One I snapped while i was trying to get it off. The other I had to put a pry bar and snap it also. Not much room there. Once you get them off they pop right out and your going to have to use new ones anyways.

I used a torch and blew new holes into the flange. The nut end just fell off. I put bolts in and torqued it down. Just like new!
Was $2.00 for the bolts... and took maybe 30 mins.
Any exhaust place should be able to do this super cheap for ya!

Exhausted
There is a new part that is made to fix this very problem on both Ford cars and trucks. It allows you to replace the studs without removing the exhaust manifold. There is a neat website that shows how they work. Go to studfix.com
