Default How to make more hp out of 302

I have a 1993 F150 with a 302 v8 in it. It has 3.55 gears and an automatic transmission, it has been well taken care of and it has 150,000 miles.

I was wanting some suggestions on making more hp. My budget is $1000. I was hoping to add 60 to 100 hp, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance any input welcome

I know all about cold air intakes and chips but i dont think they are worth it.

$1,000 to get 100hp - N2O

OR

Do the intake, exhaust, underdrive pulleys, synthetic fluids, 180 degree thrermostat, electric fans, coil, plugs, wires, DUI TFI Module and any other bolt on you can find and stay within your budget.

Check out: www.summitracing.com they have everything you need.

If he sprays maybe he needs to retard the timing, right? At least that's what you have to do if you add blowers....

yeah yeah ive already done all that, the truck runs great, I just want more out of it. Thats just basic crap, and when it comes down too it does little to nothing for hp. I have gotten maybe 30 more hp from what you mentioned,

I was wanting to know more about internals, and going deeper into the engine, I just dont know much about it though. I saw an article where you could get an extra 100 hp just by changing the heads on a 302, does anyone have experience with diving into the internals on a 302?

All feedback welcome

Try some AFR heads or Trick Flows along with a good intake system...look into a good cam (custom grind?) & the supporting mods like bigger injectors, throttle bodies & mass air, forge the internals, get a GOOD dynotune,

I am going with ported GT40 intake (TMoss ported), AFR 165 heads, still deciding on the cam...forged block, plus all the smaller details...& eventually a Kenne Bell Blower for my Mustang.

Perhaps a more detailed original post would do you some good. That way we won't suggest "crap you already know".

For $1,000 you can get "some" internal work done but, to do it right will cost at least double, if not more.

You may want to post what you've already done as well. That way we won't suggest something you've already done, either.

The post I quoted is somewhat confusing. First you say we've suggested crap you already know, and those mods are "worthless", then you close with "All feedback welcome" when apparently, it's not.

for $1000 you could do a MAF conversion and some other internal work.

get a block stick it on an engine stand and slowly but surely add parts to it. 347 stroker good heads intake yada yada yada. dumping $1000 in a motor with 150,000 seems a little risky i'd rather start with a brand new one. especially if its a daily driver. just my 2 cents.

In a '93 Mustang GT, doing head work gives by far the best bang for the buck short of adding a blower. If you go inside, you might as well go for a stroker kit. It's an expensive hobby though.....
