Where is the temp sending unit
Where is the temp sending unit on my 96 F150 4.9l 6cyl one of the threads on here said it was below the intake and infront of the starter the only plug thats there is this one and it has 2 wires coming from it
Is this it, and is this the one for the gauge, cause my gauge in the truck runs below cold when i drive it, but strangley enough when it sits in the sun all day at work it rises to right above C, but when I start the car down it goes again.

The first pic looks like your Engine Coolant Temperature SENSOR and the second one looks like your Oil Pressure SENDER.
SENSORS = 2 wires (Sensors go to your computer)
SENDERS = 1 wire (Senders go to your gauges)
Keep looking!
(Of course, I could be wrong)

Funny thing is that I took my truck out for a drive cause i was in a ****ty mood, and guess what the gauge starting working then stop then i punched the dash and it started working again and stayed working till I came home, the whole drive was about and hour and a half.

For the 4.9, the sender for the gauge is on the passenger side above the starter, and has 1 wire going to it. And it is just about impossible to get to. There i not way to get it fro the top of the engine, the best way is to turn you wheels all the way to the left and go in fro the passenger side wheel well, but even then you still have to break your arm in three different places to get to it. Maybe removing the inner fender well will make things easier.

This one is a thread from the dead - I answered David Lyons in his other thread.
