hey guys,
I have a 1992 f150 xlt with the 5.0. I am having issues with the four wheel drive. I have the push button inside the cab and the manual hubs on the front. I cant even get the light to turn on in the cab and am at a loss. I can't seem to get any power to anything, and not quite sure where else to start.

Good luck. I hate push-button 4 wheel. Girlfriend has it in her Blazer, and besides the fact that its a chevy, its a total mess.

You can use a voltmeter to try and see if you're getting power to the buttons themselves. If you don't have lights on them at all, I'd say that's a good place to start.

Did you just buy it like this, or was it working until recently?

Just got it three days ago, messed around with it a little bit not to much.

You'll be lucky if it's the switches......99% of the time it's a bad transfercase motor.

yeah, my 91 f150 xlt 5.0 needed a new transfer case when I first got it. It clunked a lot, the chain inside was broken. must have been around $600-700 for a replacement. good luck.

Check the connector going to the shift motor, might be loose or corroded.

I think the motor for one is like $100, check that before you go replacing the whole t-case

where the motor for the 4wd located?

on the back of the transfer case. kinda of looks like a window motor.

the new motor is 87.99 with a core charge at autozone. just so you know. if that is the problem
