Default Spark Plug Problem

I have heard that 97-03 5.4L Triton engines have many problems with the spark plugs either blowing out, or breaking inside of the hole. What is a solution or a way to prevent this problem from happening? If i can get the plugs out i am going to replace the plugs with platinum plugs so they don't rust in place. Is this a viable solution or is there another known way of fixing this issue?

yea the problem is with the 04-07s. Ford installed 2 piece spark plugs that were prone to breaking off inside the head. the 97-03s do not have this problem.

on the 97 to 2003 f150s with the 4.6 liter engines the spark plugs are only held in by 2-3 threads and if not torqued down just right it will shoot the plugs out of the heads

That is another thing i have heard about these trucks. I have heard that the 5.4 does it too. Has anyone had this problem with them?

Do a quick google or forum search for "spark plug blow out" and if this is your only mode of transportation, get the Timesert kit before you start.

with the timesert kit you wont have to take the heads off if you strip the threads, if you are careful you shouldnt strip any of the threads
