1994 F-150 Driver Side Window problem
Hello folks;
1994 F-150 automatic windows. Driver side window will go down but will not come back up unless I manually pull/push it back up past a certain point. (it stutters and staggers)
Once I get it back up the switch does not stop and the window keeps jumping up and down at the top of the door. That is, I have the switch still depressed and the window keeps trying to move. I thought it might be a defective switch so I I took the switch for the passenger side window (from the dual/main switch on the driver side) and tried this on the driver side window but still the same result.
I then took the switch from the passenger side door and tried on on the driver side door but still the same result. I beleive this apporach would indicate that the switch is not the problem.
I think the only other possible problems could be the wiring harnesss (highly unlikely) or the window regulator motor itself.
Does anyone have input on this line of reasoning and if other suggestions. if it looks like if it is the window regulator motor it appears to be a bitch to swap out.
Any help and advice most welcome.
Regards,
Michael

It sounds like the track that the window rides in needs to be lubricated. I know that there is a specific type of lube used for this but I'm not positive what it is. I suspect it's a silicone grease or something like that, something non-oily. There may also be a problem with your window mechanism slipping. On my truck the window motor will keep pushing the window up even when it's up all the way, but on my truck the gears don't slip like yours. The sticky track may have worn the gears out. Try taking the door panel off, using some silicone grease on the track, and replacing the motor gear. Good luck.
