Default Manual 6-Speed Trans Swap?

I'm looking to get better highway gas mileage out of my truck because I'm going to be driving my truck from Florida to Wisconsin and back 3 times a year for college. I want to get a 6 speed in my truck to keep the rpms lower at highway speeds. Would this swap even be worth it or is there a better solution for it?

i know but im planning to pay for it with some grants for college. i have a football scholarship for college so any other grant that i get is just money in my pocket haha. i can do the work myself too so that will save me money on install. i was just wondering if it would save me very much gas

it would. but it would take awhile to break even.

id do it if your tranny blows, youd be paying to rebuild it anyway. ive though of it as well because i hate automatics.

I can't imagine it would save you $3000 dollars in gas over the life of the truck? Why not use the cash to subsidize the higher cost of gas?

Get a Gear Vendors under/overdrive. Cheaper and there would be less fabrication needed to do the swap.

so i read up on the gear vendors and i understand wat it does for the automatic transmissions but not quite wat it will do for my manual. does it just add another overdrive to the one already in the truck or does it replace it. it sounds almost to good to be true if it does wat it says and it has a money back guarantee. do u no anymore about it then i do
