Default Max size tire on stock '04 FX4

Hello everyone, I'm replacing my tires next month and I was hoping to upgrade with bigger tires. Does anyone know what size tire is the maxium you can fit on a 2004 F150 FX4 without the rubing? I currently have 265/70/17 and was hoping that maybe I could fit 305/70/17 but believe it may need a lift kit.

you can fit 35s with a leveling kit.. So you can fit 35s in the rear w/o lift, can fit 33x12.5 probably.

you aren't gonna fit 305's on a stock truck, will need a leveling kit, i guarantee it. might squeeze 285/70/17's on it, but it will be tight

Just put a 2.5" leveling kit on there and the tires you want. The leveling kits are so inexpensive to do that you will kick yourself in the tail if you don't. Especially the day you pull into a parking lot next to one that has the tires you wanted. You will wish you had leveled it and put the tires on there to begin with. 305 70 17 should do you fine with a leveling kit.

Even though the "wheel tire fitment" sticky says 33/12.5 on a 4x4 with no lift????? 285/70/17=32.5/11.5.

a 305/70/17 is 33.81 inches by 12
a 285/70/17 is 32.70 inches by 11.22

every truck is different, regardless what some sticky says 305's won't fix stock, guaranteed, 285's may fit but it will be tight, i couldn't fix them on my 07 stock, fx4's sit around an inch higher.

just like the guy said above get a levelin kit. ull regret it. i picked mine up for 70 bucks but ive seen um as low as $45. you can install them your self or do like me i had a mechanic do it and he only charged $100. so for 170 buck i fit 35 12.50 r18s on my truck and love it.
