2006 F150 Transmission Problems
The truck is bone stock. It has 120, 000 highway Kilometers on it. Just recently the transmission began acting up. When its in drive, it would go 1st, 2nd, and then when it came time for third it was like it just got dropped into neutral. Tried again with overdrive off, still no difference. Fluids are all good. 1st and 2nd gear are fine, but it will not go in to third for the life of it.
Help me out, i have 5 days left on this damn lease, and then im handing it over... Talk about bad timing.

I just received the same issue last evening... 42,000 miles though....not quite 120,000 km. I have a new transmission on order. I love the damn truck. Fx4 package, supercab, airaid intake and cherrybomb exhaust. Have a edge performance computer....I was wondering if that would have caused unusual wear.

Mine shifted oddly one time and about two weeks later was when the transmission finally went. 'They' stated it could have been a four dollar seal on the inside of the transmission; but I wouldn't have known the difference because there was no leak.

How many did you get it with?
And how much driving do you do with it?
Could be that your third is worn out or chiped that the ecu doesnt recognize it anymore.
Aslo could be a host of other problems also man....

It's about 200,000 miles with the changeover from kilos....so, that is quite a bit, how did you get a lease vehilce with so many miles....
I have the new transmission...drove to PA (one way 350 miles) and back to VA via Annapolis, MD this weekend...I want to say it drives just like it did before any thing went wrong...hopefully that's a good thing. My seven year old girl yells to me "You're not suppose to drive like that anymore" when I floor it to get into traffic and she hears the pipes roar.

Actually 120000 kms is only about 75000 miles. My truck has something going on in the rear end(could be tranny). Seems to slip when leaving stop signs, more noticeable when turning left from stop. Maybe u joints even? My truck has 170000 kms or just over 100000 miles.
Any ideas guys?

Lost 1,2,3 and reverse last December had a used trans put in everything was fine until 3 weeks ago when 1st started acting funny. Check fluid level which was fine dropped the pan and changed the filter that fixed 1st but 2nd and 3rd started slipping brought it back to same shop and mech said I needed it rebuilt. Sorry couldn't answer your question but seems like I had the same problem and I was told it was time for a rebuild

I am looking into buying an 06 f150 with 105000 miles on it. But having had my last truck transmission go out I am a little hesitant to buy another of these. It seems like a lot of these happen in the 50-85k mile range. Do any of you know if this is something that you can be out of the woods on when you pass a certain mileage? Or are these trannys a possible liability regardless of mileage?
Thanks for any info you may have!
