Depends on the engine.
The 5.8 uses 5w-30 and the rest use 10w-30.

I'm a Castrol GTX 10w30 man myself... I also like the K&N (Performance Gold) or Mobil 1 (Extended Performance) oil filters (whichever is cheaper).

In my Explorer I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic with a Fram Extended Guard filter. The filter is designed to be used for 7k miles which is how often I change the oil unless I go for a weekend of off roading then I change it when i get home.

In all the other cars and trucks I have i use Mobil Clean 5000 with the same filter, and I just change it every 5k miles.

The one thing I suggest never putting in any vehicle is Pennzoil.

I would say.. if you can afford it to use royal purple motor oil. It is full synthetic and arguably the best motor oil out there. If too expensive i would use castrol full synthetic 10-30
