Hey guys. I just picked up some firestone destination m/t for 140 bucks. Stock size for me to get me through the winter, but i want them to last as long as possible. Two look brand new and two are over 50% still. Ill post pics after they get mounted. Now to the million dollar discussion.

I googled having nitrogen put in tires and if this is just a myth or actually worth a few extra bucks. Im looking for advice from any who have actually run tires with n2 in them. Ive read a few articles and it seems to be 6 on one half a dozen on the other. Thanks for the opinions/ thoughts!

My buddy runs a belle tire here in MI and he says it's better and I agree. It stays in the tires longer I think he said due to larger molecules compared to straight air.

The air we breathe is about 80% nitrogen, I will never pay to have it put in my tires.

Ive heard that it doesnt seep through the rubber. And stays cooler. If it actually helps longevity with mts itd be worth it in the long run.

I don't see have it could help longevity at all if you keep your tires properly inflated. To be honest I don't believe I have had many tires that seep air. I believe it's total bs an just another way to get their grubby hands on more money.

If it is free, then sure, not going to hurt anything.
If you have to pay for it, then no.

Check your tire pressure once a month and your good to go.

Its supposed to help by keeping the rubber cooler while rolling. Keeping it dry inside to slow any rot with the rubber and wheels. And with it being more stable than air the psi doesnt fluctuate nearly as much with changes in temp. From what ive read anyways.

Pure nitrogen in your tires is better than just compressed air if it was just a straight up toss up of one of the other. As stated before, yes nitrogen is a bigger molecule, so it won't escape as easily as all the other elements in regular compressed air like oxygen. But it's real benefit comes from temperature spikes. It's pretty good at just being nitrogen and not expanding or contracting or freezing. So places like here, where it goes from +40 to -40, it's obviously a good choice. But air has elements that don't react so well to those temperature spikes, especially in terms of water, (humidity in the air). So you can get a rougher ride (noticed on cold mornings) and different tire pressure depending on the temperature. Which can lead to faster wear.

I've never paid for nitrogen, as I always get it free so why not. But if it were to cost you like 20 bucks a tire, don't bother with it. Especially on used tires. Save that 80 or 100 bucks and put a down payments on new tires.

Protip, put the new tires on the back and you'll get a more even wear pattern after a year. Assuming the front still have good tread that you can steer with.

As said above I wouldn't pay for it either, but I also get it free. As far as it being fiction I guess someone should tell race car teams they seem to be wasting their time with it, yep those guys don't have a clue. (Sarcasm implied )
