Default 8 foot camper on 5.5 foot box on 2009 150?

I am looking for a camper with plans to mount it on my trailer, but I see every ad for an 8 foot says fits on shortbox with tailgate down. I had ruled this out when I went from a 350 long box to a 150 short box. Now I'm wondering if it would be OK...... Thoughts? I have BFG AT KO's and they are 10 ply so would work....

^This. What does an 8' camper weigh? What else will you have with you? What is your payload?
I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is unlikely that it will be good for the truck.
Around here I see with box campers only in F-350 or F-450.

Well I had it on there to get it home tonight....2 blocks....never again on the truck. It will be going on my trailer. I see people doing it all the time, but not this guy.

Yeah the only in bed camper I've seen actually within the payload rating of an F150 is the palamino broncobullitt B600

To be honest I'm not too worried about the legality of it. If I was a little over weight and it felt ok and the truck looked fine.... and was still level, and felt ok, braked and handled ok, it wouldn't be a big deal to me. But it was sooooo sketchy looking on there, back was squatted waaaay down, so far it pulled the front up. I was crapping going the 2 blocks home.
