I am a F-150 guy. I sold a F 150 when I bought my 2005 F150 5,4 3v truck. I sold the sparkplug monster and bought a 2011 F-150 ecoBoost.
It is a fantastic powerful truck even for a 6 cylinder.
I will not punish myself because of THEIR SCREWUP with these plugs.

A class action lawsuit was filed in Ohio late last year.
Because Ford said "screw you". You can only recover if you are involved.
Yes the Lawyers will get tons of money. I can only hope Ford will rethink their position.

Spark plugs need to be changed regularly or they will bind in the head. If they break, the Lisle tool will remove them.

Every car and truck type has its issues, trying to sue a company everytime something goes wrong will ruin every business and drive up costs so that the only people who make money, will be insurance companies and lawyers.

The 5.4 3v engine is excellent but not without faults, the spark plugs is less of an issue that the timing gear wear if maintenance is neglected....but look after them and it will be fine!

Instead of filing class action lawsuits for every issue with a vehicle, how about just don't buy the same thing next time?

All class action lawsuits accomplish is enriching lawyers and drives up the cost to consumers. You think a payout from Ford is going to just come out of the company coffers and not be replaced by higher prices?

Believe me...I just spent $580 on a plug change (They broke 2) and would love to see Ford help out or at least lock the price of a plug change to something reasonable. I just find it funny how your way of showing your displeasure with Ford was to buy a 2011??? If I felt that strongly about it, I would never buy another one...You did exactly what Ford wanted you to do.......

There's been countless class action lawsuits since people have realized the problem. They all end the same way, which is usually going nowhere. Ford redesigned the heads for the 08 model and up, and if you change the factory plugs correctly you'll never have an issue again. Problem solved and no mountain out of a mole hill.

Though I agree that something should be done about this, I don't think another frivilous law suit is the answer.
Let's first admit that this is a really bad design. You can find different plugs out there. I believe that Ford really should own up to the problem, and stop having the customer pay for their flaw. We shouldn't be charged an outrageous price for their "certified" mechanics busting the plugs. Not to mention the high price they want to charge you anyway. I believe it was around $400 here in Las Vegas. It would have been over $1200 if they broke all the plugs. For a plug change.
Or you can all do what I did. Take your trucks to the local Dodge dealer and have them change them. It was one set price of $280. And that included the $11 a piece for the new plugs. My shop has a Ford mechanic there who knows what he is doing.
Long story short, all law suits do is drive up the cost of everything.

Just from my personal experience if you change the plugs around 70-90k miles as a precaution/maintenance you don't really have the same issues removing the plugs that you would if its 100k+ miles. People might say you shouldn't have to but as said before if you know the heads have issues, wouldn't you rather spend the money for the plugs earlier on.. rather than to have someone take them out for you and break them later on and charge more?...

I did that exactly. 77,000miles, changed the plugs in the parking lot at my apartment complex. Followed Ford's directions on how to do it, and all 8 came out cleanly. No need to get sue happy all the time.
