I have a feeling I screwed something up.
I just got my Haynes service manual for my 1995 5.0 302
About 6 weeks ago I bought spark plugs from Autozone and because I didn't have the proper gap I asked what it was. They looked it up and told me .052 so I gapped them all and threw them in.
I was looking in my Haynes manual and it states .044

Which one is it and do I have to take them all out and regap?

5.0L is 0.052" to 0.056"

I just did a search and thats what I found too.
Incredible, the Chilton manual I have has a chart in it that shows all the plug gaps from 1987 through 1996 for all motors. It clearly states that the 1995 5.0 spark plug gap is .044. Actually the gap for every gasoline motor in any size from 1987 through 1996 is stated to be .044

Weird, 0.044" is stock gap for a 4.9 and earlier 5.0, guess it was a misprint.

in going through motercraftservice.com clicking on quick guides and then VECI tab at the bottom.

You click on vehicle and enter your calibration number and in doing this for my 89 5.0 with calibration # 7-54-jr11 that is listed on my door jamb it says my gap is to be between .042-.046

I remember reading .044 on my truck somewhere too. 1987 5.0L here.

I believe early 5.0L engines required the .042-.046 gap and into 93ish? They changed to .052~ area. Not sure what was changed ingnition wise for the extra needed gap though, maybe the MAF equiped engines?

Here is the the sticker under the hood of my 1994 XLT with the 5.0 EFI.

Gap is stated as being between .052 - .056 (bottom right section of the sticker).

The sticker on my 88 5.0 Bronco says .042-.046, it’s looking like the cutoff is 1993 and before.
