Default 2011 new windshield price?????

Ok so my windshield Cracked from passenger side to drivers side. Just under the wiper blade on the passenger side is a very small chip. I dont remember hearing anything hit my window. But when I had my heat on it must have split.

Called the dealer for a price and I was told
Ball park $600+tax Canadian Dollar.
Parts said $430+tax +install.
Called Speedy Auto Glass and was told
$650+tax.
Wow a HUGE difference from my mini-van
$240 installed!
Why is the F150 so much more? Just because of the F150 badge?? So not worth it.
Any Ideas on if I should go to the dealership or another place? It seems it's going to be close to the same price as the Dealer anyway so why not Factory install right?

Dealer is just going to send it to a local shop anyway they won't do it themselves.

I had the same thing happen and went with an aftermarket company that stocked the stock carlite glass. I have a windshield policy with my insurance so it only cost me $100 for part and install and they did it at my work.

I would use a glass company as that is their man work and they probably know what they are doing vs a dealer who only does a few.

There are several different types of windshields for the F150. One without the logo, one with, acoustic and rain sensing. Make sure they are quoting you for the right windshield. Mine was almost $400 US for the part.

I did not pay $200 plus for the Ranger logo when the glass was replaced.
Safelite did it in my garage for about $240.
I will not pay for a logo if the 150 needs glass sometime.

BTW, the dealer is not factory. I would trust a glass replacement service b4 I would let the dealer do it.

I also wouldn't trust safelite either! They don't use stock glass, they use cheap knock off glass that isn't up to the same standard as stock.

They put carlite in...

Nice blanket statement.

All you do is ask what the price is for different types of glass. They give you the info and you choose what you want.

Read the thread, there are crazy amounts BBB complaints against them and I am on the East coast, when I asked them about carlite, they said they put their own in so I did research and found out a lot abou them and their operation. I used a ma and pop shop here and had a great expirience.

I paid $260. F150 logo was an extra $75. No need for the logo as I live in the windshield replacement capital of NA. I budget on needing a new windshield every 2 years.
