Default Battery Charging

I have a feeling that the answer is no, but I'll ask anyway. I have a small battery tender that I use to keep the battery on my Harley charged during the off season. Would it be safe to hook this up to my 2010 F-150 battery while it is still in the vehicle and connected? The truck sits quite a bit without being driven. Wasn't sure if there would be enough "juice" there to harm anything or not. Thanks in advance,

Mike

This is funny that you posted because my truck sits a good bit also and when I got in it Friday, battery was down. As luck would have it, I'd bought a battery tender for a motorcycle. I stuck the tender on the truck overnight and worked like a charm!!!!!! I'll be sticking it on overnight every now and again!!

I use a motorcycle tender and switch it between my V-rod and my stang, charge overnight and the green light is back on

Nope it won't hurt anything. Most of the guys on the Corvette forum install them as our cars spend more time in the garage than on the road.

......and you don't need to disconnect the battery first? I guess that was my main question.

No need to disconnect the battery unless you don't plan to charge and leave the vehicle sit for more than a couple weeks. It is actually recommended to either disconnect the battery or keep a charger on it while in extended storage time.

I charge Chester up, once a month, jic.

Trickle or 10 amp, he doesn't care.

After owning a high end Buick on which the battery would go dead because it wasn't driven, I know what a drag it is to have a modern vehicle with a discharged battery.

No problem......I do the same thing. Its a trickle charger always a good idea when a vehicle is not operated for a while....
