I have a 2011 FX Eco and just got home from a week long fishing trip in the Brainerd, MN area (Pine River) and I put about 1500 miles on total. Towed my 1600 pound boat, packed the bed full of gear and carried 3 adults and I was curious to see how it would react. Not a single shutter or stutter ever (Wisconsin is pretty hilly too) and my MPG stayed pretty much at 15 mpg's with my boat attached which is about what I would expect. I have 5K miles on the truck. I do not believe the new TSB is a fix for those that have the issues. I am going to guess that this may be related to some faulty turbo control components but I am paying attention to this thread with great interest......

Has anybody had the "new fix" performed yet? Both Ford CS and my dealership were going to contact me as soon as it was available. I don't wanna make the call because I have express orders that all communications should go through him.

Dropping my truck off at dealer on Tuesday. They said they need to scan for codes to determine if they need to order catalytic converter in addition to other parts. It sounds like this will likely be the norm. They are performing TFS regardless of codes but need to read codes to see if cat is needed in addition to other parts. They already know my truck has symptoms from seeing it in past months plus I have a case open with Ford on the issue.

This fix does not address the 55-65 shudder. Open another thread for this TSB.

All the electronics in the xlt and above maybe interfering with the ECM and PCM. I wonder if the xl models with the ecoboost have a shudder.

Whos to say that for sure? It is aimed at multiple driveability concerns, per TSB. I certainly hope it does. The last TSB seemed to help some people somewhat. Mine will be going in this week and will try and hit some hills once it is complete and see what happens.

I think we have to wait for some people to have the updates done, since this TSB ocovers:

  • Intermittent stumble and/or misfire on hard acceleration after an extended drive at highway speeds being more noticeable during humid or damp conditions.
  • Intermittent engine surge during moderate to light loads at cruise.
  • Powertrain control module (PCM) Misfire DTC P030x.
  • PCM DTC P0430 and/or P0299. "
