the third door on my 1997 f150 will not open. I took inside panel off and the mechanism appears to be working normally (the vertical rod is lifting and it can't be pulled any more by hand. Cannot access where the mech engages with the bottom of the door frame. If I could just get the door open, I could see how the mech engages and maybe fix. Any advice on how to get the door open or to fix the problem would be appreciated.

There is a cable going to the top lock on the door I took mine off since it broke and i have not baught one yet since it cost rrougly 80 from ford and it is not that hard to install just memorize how you took it off because for ford to install it they want your first born, anyways check the ends of the cable and I am pretty sure that that is it considering when you open the door the bottom opens but not the top, and as far as getting it open take off the panels that you can and pull down firmly on the cable. I will try and find the part and take pics to show you
