Sometimes I just love working for a Ford Dealership, in conversation today with a technician I mentioned I was buying a code reader for my 94', about an hour later he hands me, free of charge, a Rotunda/Ford Code reader for EEC-IV!!!!!! True but, a paper clip doesn't correctly count flashes of the CEL either. This way, or even if I paid $20 bucks for a new one, it takes the "human error" out of the equation, like I've seen on here many, many times....

I'm a cheap ***. I'll run the codes over and over until I'm sure I counted them right. If I had any extra money to buy a code reader it would be an OBDII one.

what do i use to go from one plug to the other one? and then from the battery to the big plug? i need to get some codes because my truck is running weird. shutting off and then not starting back up. idk. but i dont know if you just use wires or what? i have like speaker wire and stuff like that..but i honestly am confused.

You only need to hook up the blue wire in the picture, you can use a paper clip or short length of wire. You only need to hook up the voltmeter if the check engine light doesn't work.

so all i need is a paper clip? then turn the key on, but not start the engine? and count the blinks?

Yes. Then turn off the key, wait a minute or so and start the engine to get the running codes. Follow the engine running instructions and make sure the truck is warm for all tests.

o.k. guys I ran a KOEO and KOER test with my handy dandy tester and got the following:

KOEO:

111 - I think this means "system passed"
10- ?
124 - ?

KOER:
632 - I forgot to press the OD button!

Looks like all is well, I think I'm gonna replace the O2 sensor anyway cuz' it's 15 years old! Anyone have any idea what codes 10 and 124 are? They are not listed in my Haynes manual.....

How the hell do you get a 10? I've never seen the light flash zero. lol

10= cylinder #1 low during cylinder balance test
124= TPS voltage higher than expected

Ahh... cuz' I was using:



See, it is better than a paper clip!

So, in your opinion, is there anything to worry about? Should I replace the TPS and O2 sensors?
