Possibly this is why I can get away with not draining the torque converter. I average 20,000 to 25,000 miles each year on both my vehicles.

I usually drop the transmission pan every two years and do my version of transmission service which does not include draining the Torque Converter.

Not draining the torque converter is similar to changing the filter on an engine and topping off the oil and calling it an oil change. The typical auto holds 30 or more pints of oil, the pan only holds 5 or so pints.

In pints, the 4R75W holds 27.8 total. The pan holds 12.

All I can say is what I do seems to work, at least for me. Drop the pan,
change what transmission fluid drains, clean pan, replace filter and maybe the
gasket and refill same.

It works for me. What is your problem ?

ok ok ok, im looking to do a trans service today, now i see this about the TC. once i drain the TC, how does it fill back up? do i need to fill it? or just fill the tans and it automaticly fills the TC?

Can anyone post pictures on how to drain the torque converter?

The factory service manual for my 1999 F150 says to replace the converter drain plug.

I called the parts department at the dealer, and the part is discontinued.

I wonder why they say to replace it?

Heres another way to change most of the fluid without draining the torque converter. Do a pan only fluid change, drive it a bit then do another pan only fluid change, you got about 3/4 or better of the fluid changed now.
