Default Rear axle ratio? Decode VIN number?

Hi,
I have just bought a 2001 F150 Supercrew 4.6V8 auto and I see from the owners guide that ther are 3 different rear axle ratios for the truck-how do I find out what ratio my truck has? Can you get this inormation from the VIN number?

How do you decode the VIN number to get all the other information about the truck please?

Thank you,
supercrewkev

Thanks for the reply kaboom10. I have now been able to decode the vin, but it does not give me the rear axle ratio, any ideas for finding that out?

I know this isn't too much help but I started typing anyway...

On the door "jamb" on the driver side there is an Axle Code.

Can you post that?

I just did this not too long ago but beer has erased it from my memory bank.

Let us know...

Hi koopzz,
thanks for the reply. I checked the door jamb for the axle code, and under the word "Axle" is "H9". Is this the code you are asking for?

why not just look at the silver tag on the pumpkin.

here is an example.

3 L 73...means 3.73 traction lok.

Did you consider that some of us are fat and lazy, and we make old people noises when we get up?

JK!

ps: Not calling SuperCrewKev, nor anyone else, fat.
