Have a 07 fx4 with auto lights. Bought the truck from texas and need daytime lights here in Canada. The truck does not have drl so what I am thinking is find out where on the truck is the auto light sensor and some how black it out so My lights come on automatically and it will pass inspection. If you guys have any other ideas , let me know. Oh buy the way WHERE is the auto light sensor???? On the dash? roof? grill?????

Looks like you can buy this module and convert to DRL's.

Yeah, it's the smoke colored dome with the PATs LED in in on the driver's side dash up by the windshield.

I would think a relay and tapping the headlight and a hot in start lead would get you true DRLs without a kit.

Scratch that, looking at the electrical diagrams, we might be prewired, check for a slot for the DRL relay in the Underhood Aux Relay Box 1, you may luck out and be able to just stick in a $3 relay.

Did anyone ever try a relay to gain DRLs? Interesting... i will look at mine tonight. Surprising that for the price of a relay that Ford would not do that to begin with... especially being a safety issue.

The thing it, unlike Chevy, there is no dedicated DRL on our trucks. The system uses our actual head lights.

Yes, the issue is you are running your headlights whenever your truck is on, burning out the bulbs faster. Anyone who's owned a DRL Silverado for any length of time (unfortunately this includes me) has had to replace DRL bulbs more than once.

Which models would have this underhood aux relay box? I do not see one in my 2005 STX. Then again, I do have a bare bones F150.
