Even a work truck 2004 Silverado has auto lights. I am surprised ford doesn't.

I find it funny when others put words into others mouths. No one but you said free. This truck was everything I wanted EXCEPT auto headlamps. "Popping" for the same truck with auto headlamps was $3300. $300 and no big deal....even if it could have been a dealer added item but it was not. Ford has about 80 different f150s, why can't auto headlamps be an option on all of them? Even, again, as a dealer option.....not free, nor unreasonably priced at 3300. Even the sales manager was surprised when I said I needed auto headlamps and he did the comparison to the next model up.

If auto lights were that big of a deal then you should have popped for a higher model with it.

Now as far as them removing it from the harness, not sure how it's cheaper to have separate harness' vs having one like 09-10.

I want auto headlamps also. But i'd rather have my color matched bumpers and black interior over the chrome and gray interior that comes on the XLT.

Glad I read the whole thread. If I had just read the first few pages, I would have been out of luck since I have a 2014 STX.

Imagine this thread with only beneficial posts...4 pages tops.

The rest of you-know-what in the kiddie pool.

I'll sum it up.

09-10 has wires so you just need to buy sensor and switch and you're set.

All others will need Ford tech and find a similar build with auto headlights and have it programmed. Not very easy at all.

The 09 and 10 models have the wiring and the install is just plug and play. 11,12, 13, and 14 (with born on dates prior to October 2013) year models have the wiring but need to have programming. 14 year models born after October 2013 don't even have the correct wiring.

The programming part is easy (not sure why people think this is difficult). The addresses that need to be changed are: (as discussed in this thread)

ICM 720-03-01

BCM 726-03-01
BCM 726-09-01
BCM 726-11-01
BCM 726-12-01

Most if not all Dealers have this capability using the IDS. How else would they be able to enable remote start on cars that didn't originally have it installed from the factory. Finding a dealer who is comfortable doing the programming is the tricky part.

Remote start is an on off type thing that is just like checking a box, I believe the programming for auto lights is a but harder.

I think the still-baffling question for most of us is, what do these lines need to be changed FROM and TO in order for the A/L function to work. A few examples are shown in the thread but it seems the required TO codes are all over the map. If my local dealer's tech is typical he'll not want to do an easter egg hunt to figure this out.

Monitor: Perhaps this thread could be summarized into a "write-up" and made a sticky? Just a thought.
