It comes, in part, from trouble shooting aircraft electronics for 40 years!

I wasn't as messed up, as I thought I was, even though the results remain the same!

I compared my STX data to another STX, as part of my research, in addition to trucks with A/L. While neither, of the STX's has A/L, the other STX had different data for 1 line, so I excluded that line, as not pertaining to the A/L issue. Normally, I would think, that 2 STX's without A/L would reflect the same data ... not so, evidently. in other words, it appears that Ford changed data on 2 lines on my truck, while only 1 line on the other STX. Once, I had excluded the line, I didn't focus on it's presence/configuration in the trucks with A/L.

If I had my own IDS, this would seem a lot less cumbersome!

I've decided, this whole project, is much like gambling and trying to pick the correct numbers from a hat. .. and knowing, the correct numbers are there, somewhere. Or, "pick door 1, 2 or 3"?

I guess, it hasn't been a total waste, to date. One visit, got my remote start activated and the keys cut. The last visit included changing the BCM data for the keypad entry, in case someday, I decide to add it. (won't know, if it worked, until then.)

"Baby steps!"

Have you tried looking at autotrader.com for a VIN yet?
Might be able to pull the VIN from a truck with the features that you are hunting for. If you have your lines of code (and maybe a ref chart/legend) I'll be glad to put some ctrl-F into play too. I'm an Ex-USN Aviation Electronics tech and an IT guy now (been out of the nav since 98), so I hear you on the "can't let it go" when troubleshooting. It's a positive trait man....not a bad one.

Here's a 2013 platinum with all items. - Fogs drl etc.
Look at the
Primary information about this vehicle:

last line is VIEW VIN.
Probably have to copy/paste this link...url'ing is sh1tting the bed.

PHP Code:

let us know what shakes out man.

LOL! I'm also a USN vet and Aviation Electronics Tech ... a bit before your time, though. Do you suppose, that's where the trouble started?

Yeah, I've pulled a bunch of Vin's and compared them, to the point, where I "think", I've got a handle on it. The trouble now, is "my dealer is getting kind of sick of seeing me". The last time might have worked, except there appears to be 2 lines of code, which should be changed (which, I didn't realize at the time) and we only changed one.

In my mind there are only two places that this issue can be coming from (redundant much? LOL) - (1) Sensors/switch, which have been covered or (2) the software/firmware. I'd like to get my hands on the code. Does anyone on this forum know anyone at Ford that is more "technically saavy"? Most of the techs that I have dealt with don't have much going in the science department.....YET I know that there has to be some geek motorheads working for Ford.
Do the manuals between trim levels give any more detail on an IPB, wiring schematic or chilton's?

Default Announcement!!

I can, now, make an announcement, that one of the Forum members, who I have been working with, has gotten his '13 STX Auto Lamps working!! He wanted me to be the first, but "dealer appointments" didn't work out that way. Who got there first, hasn't been my goal.

I still have some work to do, as comparable '12 F150 XLT's with regular cab and short bed are hard to find! Beyond that, I have to use some extrapolation.

With more success and study, we should be able to pin it down for everyone.

Hopefully, he'll post a report of the whole procedure.

Does anybody on the Forum have a '12 XLT with regular cab and short bed, who would like to give up their Vin?

If anyone on the forum knows of someone running an 11-13 RCSB 4x4 XLT, would you ask them to PM TMajor or myself their vin please? OR ask them to pull their info from the motorcraft site and post it here please. I think that getting the info from a "known quantity" will help expedite the validation process and make it possible for non A/L trucks to be converted properly...and with full functionality.

Thanks...
